Cllr Thomas Redmond has been a Councilor for South Kildare for more than 9 years. He is the former Deputy Chairman and was the final Chairman of Athy Town Council

 Thomas has since elected to Kildare county council

• Honored as a Peace Commissioner in May 2015. By the Minister of Justice.

• Been highly involved in the Regional Health Forum- Calling for services in south Kildare and other areas,

• A Councilor with a special interest and qualified in housing -Thomas has elected to Councils housing policy group

•  Been at the fore in calling major public meetings on, Housing, The HSE, Bus service reductions, Ambulance problems, Palestine, Irish water to name only some.

• Spoken weekly on South Kildare issues on Radio, print and occasionally Television.

• Maintained a Daily social media presence to Inform locals and followers of Council Information.

• Been part of the most vocal and hardest group of politicians in Kildare county council. In one year Sinn Fein members had 56 motions from 60 workloads. All others 40% and less.

   

  Politics has offered the chance to affect change in my local community. I am not complacent and respect the fact in the first election I got 86 votes my second election over 800 votes. The areas of South Kildare I represent need politicians who will go into the Chamber and fight for them. For too long there’s been a significant lack of fight in those represented here. This is evident because of the North-South Divide in Kildare. My job is to keep this area top of the council’s agenda and fight above my weight for the best place to live in Kildare

  I want the best for my community and am not afraid to voice concern when transparency or an open door policy are not followed. I want to thank the many of you that believed in Sinn Fein and Thomas Redmond and elected the team in kildare.
